Participating Artists:
Kaz Orri, Japan
Valerie Ng, Malaysia
15 May – 30 June 2013
From 15 May through 15 June 2013, Mulan Gallery will showcase a body of abstract works by Japanese artist, Kaz Orii and Singapore-based mixed media artist, Valerie Ng. The exhibition, Ethereal Roots, will examine the ebb and flow of nature environment, shapes and hues.
A Malaysia-born Singapore based artist, Valerie Ng's explorations of themes, shifting lights and mood are largely stemmed from her extensive residency programs abroad. Using her expressionist – abstract language to explore epochs of traveling, the transitions of nebulous landscape conditions and varying weather in the atmosphere are collated in the series of, amorphous paintings on view.
Cultivating a profound reverence for nature, Kaz Orii's intricate observation of Japan's four seasons is derived through a vast experience of farm work. His textured western oil abstract paintings accentuate the rich blossoms of spring and the rustic reds of a staid autumn. The palpable expressions of nature on display forge an invigorating retinal effect on the viewer.
