Narratives of the East

Narratives of the East is a lighthearted quirky recounting of China's rich ceramic arts tradition seen through the imagination of two contemporary ceramic artists, Zheng Yukui and Song Xiaoling. Exquisite, bold and charming – their ceramic figures are finely executed, each with a personality unique to its respective persona inspired by the backdrop of ubiquitous characters found in Chinese tales, paintings and urban landscapes. The 'past' rather than juxtaposed against the 'present' is seamlessly woven with scenes of the living present, the vitality of everyday commute in urban centers and the rustic down-to-earth realities of rural China.
