Liang Chang Sheng
About
Chang Sheng
Chang Sheng combines his early fascination with folk art forms such as paper cuts with a more contemporary sensibility. His artworks - line drawings, paper cuts and paintings, unfailingly bring to fore traditional themes and images that inspire and form his works. His canvases are covered in folk motifs and dense imagery. Images from dreams, mythologies, even Buddhist subjects collide and fuse in these inter-twining tales. From his early paper cuts to his later paintings, Liang's compositions remain fundamentally similar. They are centred on figures and these are fully integrated with his diverse imagery that draws primarily on his familiarity with folk art but is also enriched by his stint with design.
